Looks: Male has brownish head with white stripe behind eye. Brown breast and grey flanks. Female paler and has pale supercilium. During flight show broad white trailing edge to wing. Lives: Freshwater wetlands, Lakes with vegetation.
ചുമലുവരെ എത്തുന്ന വീതിയുള്ള വെള്ളപ്പുരികം തവിട്ടുനിറമുള്ള തലയിൽ തെളിഞ്ഞുകാണാം. ചാരനിറമുള്ള അടിഭാഗവും തവിട്ടുനിറമാർന്ന നെഞ്ചുമായി മിഴിവാർന്ന സൗന്ദര്യം ആണിനുണ്ട്. മങ്ങിയ പുരികമാണ് പെൺപക്ഷിക്കുള്ളത്. തണ്ണീർത്തടങ്ങളിൽ ആഹാരം തേടുന്നു.
